An IndiGo flight from London to New Delhi returned to London Heathrow Airport on Tuesday after the crew detected a technical issue shortly after take-off, with the aircraft landing safely, the airline said.
Flight 6E 04, which was operating from London to New Delhi on September 22, turned back to Heathrow in accordance with standard operating procedures after the issue was identified, according to an IndiGo spokesperson.
The aircraft has been taken up for maintenance inspections and will be cleared for further operations only after the necessary checks and approvals are completed, the airline said.
IndiGo said arrangements were made for passengers affected by the disruption, including hotel accommodation and seats on the next available flights to New Delhi.
The airline apologised for the inconvenience caused to passengers and said efforts were being made to minimise the impact of the disruption.
IndiGo reiterated that the safety of its passengers, crew and aircraft remained its highest priority.
