Verified: Old Video of Swatantra Bhardwaj Falsely Shared as Post-Jail Release Threat

A video of Swatantra Bhardwaj, who recently came into the spotlight following an alleged assault during a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, is being widely shared on social media.

Those sharing the video claim that it was recorded shortly after Bhardwaj was released from jail and shows him openly threatening people.

A Facebook user posted the viral post with the following caption:

MY Lord needs to watch this video. On what basis was this offender given bail to spread filth?????
This happens when the judiciary is impotent.
This goon and lout haven’t changed a bit. Hez still the braggart who claimed splitting open another person’s head and is seen bragging even after his bail!
The Indian justice system has failed once again…
Even though the court had imposed the condition, that he would not make any grandstanding statements in the media—but once a Menace always A Menace .

NewsMobile investigated the viral post and found the claims to be false.

To verify the claim, we conducted a reverse image search using keyframes from the viral video. The search initially led us to an older version of the clip uploaded to YouTube on September 8, several days before Bhardwaj was granted interim bail.

Further reverse searches led us to an Instagram account belonging to Vibhav Kumar, who had posted the same video on June 26, 2026. Vibhav is also the person seen alongside Bhardwaj in the viral clip. His Instagram account contains several other photographs and videos featuring the two together.

This establishes that the viral video had been online nearly three months before Bhardwaj was released from jail.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show Swatantra Bhardwaj openly threatening people shortly after he was released from jail, is false.
