New Delhi: Air India flight AI1886 operating from Bhopal to Delhi on Sunday was diverted to Jaipur following a technical issue, with the aircraft landing safely and undergoing safety checks, the airline said.
Air India said the diversion was carried out as per established procedures and that the aircraft was being inspected in line with its safety standards. The airline apologised for the inconvenience caused to passengers and said efforts were underway to fly them to Delhi at the earliest.
The airline’s ground team at Jaipur was providing passengers with immediate assistance and support while the checks were being conducted.
The incident comes days after another Air India flight, AI131, operating from Mumbai to London, was diverted to Zurich amid an air traffic control-related disruption at London Heathrow Airport.
The flight, carrying more than 290 passengers, landed in Zurich and passengers initially remained onboard while they waited for the Heathrow disruption to be resolved.
The flight was later cancelled, and passengers disembarked at Zurich Airport.
The disruption was linked to a technical failure at a NATS air traffic control facility in the UK, affecting operations at major airports, including Heathrow.
FlightRadar reported that more than 1,000 flights were cancelled across UK airports, while Heathrow suspended arrivals for the remainder of the day, citing passenger and staff safety.
