Leeds United produced a dominant performance at Elland Road on Tuesday, defeating Newcastle United 4-1 to remain unbeaten in the Premier League and climb to third in the table.
Daniel Farke’s side took the lead in the 32nd minute when Ao Tanaka’s effort took a deflection off Lewis Miley and found the back of the net.
Leeds doubled their advantage just two minutes later. Dominic Calvert-Lewin met James Justin’s cross with a header that deflected off teammate Jayden Bogle and went in.
Calvert-Lewin then got on the scoresheet himself in first-half stoppage time, weaving past Sven Botman before calmly finishing to put Leeds 3-0 ahead at the break. It was his eighth Premier League goal against Newcastle.
Newcastle struggled to create a sustained response, while Leeds continued to threaten after the restart. Noah Okafor added a fourth in the 54th minute with a superb strike into the bottom corner.
Newcastle’s evening was further disrupted when Nico Gonzalez was forced off through a concussion substitution. Bazoumana Toure provided a late consolation for the visitors in the 90th minute with his first Premier League goal.
The defeat was the first for Matthias Jaissle as Newcastle head coach, with the Magpies slipping to 12th in the table.
Leeds, meanwhile, continued their unbeaten start to the 2026-27 Premier League season and moved into third place after a statement victory in front of a jubilant Elland Road crowd.
