New Delhi: Passengers staged protests at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport after two SpiceJet flights to Dubai were repeatedly rescheduled, affecting around 200 travellers.
Flights SG 5111 and SG 5105 were scheduled to operate from Delhi to Dubai on Monday morning and evening, respectively. However, both flights were rescheduled, leaving passengers stranded at Terminal 3 for several hours.
The protests reportedly broke out at different points in Terminal 3 late Monday evening, with passengers expressing anger over the prolonged delays.
SpiceJet on Tuesday apologised for the disruption and said it was making arrangements to accommodate the affected passengers on alternate flights.
“SpiceJet flights SG 5111 and SG 5105, operating from Delhi to Dubai, have been delayed due to operational reasons following the grounding of an aircraft,” an airline spokesperson said.
“Alternate flights are being arranged to accommodate the affected passengers, and the airline is making every effort to minimise the inconvenience caused,” the spokesperson added.
The latest disruption comes amid ongoing financial and operational challenges faced by the airline.
