A video purportedly showing Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay announcing his decision to quit the INDIA bloc and join the BJP-led NDA is being widely shared on social media.
Those sharing the video claim that Vijay said he was inspired by the work of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and had therefore decided to leave the INDIA bloc and join the NDA.
A Facebook user posted the viral post with the following caption:
Inspired by @ncbn and @narendramodi, I am working hard for the progress of my state. Just as I once drew from @PawanKalyan’s films, Congress is now trying to backbite me. I have therefore decided to leave the INDIA alliance and join the NDA.

NM VERIFIED
NewsMobile investigated the viral post and found the claims to be false.
In the viral clip, which shows Chief Minister Vijay addressing the Tamil Nadu Assembly, he refers to former Chief Minister MK Stalin’s arrest under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA).
Vijay can be heard saying, “No matter what our friends say, they say that we have seen MISA. Everyone knows the history of MISA. People are watching everything that has happened, is happening, and is going to happen.”
He then goes on to quote remarks by poet Kannadasan. At no point in the viral portion of the speech does Vijay mention the Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the INDIA bloc, the NDA, or any decision to switch political alliances.
We also checked the full video of Vijay’s speech in the Assembly and found no reference to him leaving the INDIA bloc or joining the BJP-led NDA.
Additionally, we found no credible news reports stating that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister had announced his exit from the INDIA bloc or his decision to join the NDA.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show Tamil Nadu CM Vijay announced his decision to leave the INDIA bloc and join the BJP-led NDA, is false.
