Verified: Statement on Jat Community Falsely Attributed to Jayant Chaudhary

A graphic purportedly carrying a statement by Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief and Union Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary is being widely shared on social media. The graphic, designed in the style of Navbharat Times, carries Jayant Chaudhary’s picture and claims that he said, “Have I taken the contract of the Jat community that 700 Jat farmers died?”

NewsMobile verified the claim and found that it is misleading.

The NM team initiated its verification and conducted a search using relevant keywords from the viral claim. We could not find any credible news report confirming that Jayant Chaudhary had made such a statement.

We then checked Navbharat Times’ official social media accounts. We found an original postcard shared by NBT on August 31, 2026, featuring Jayant Chaudhary. However, the text in the original postcard was different from the viral graphic. It stated, “Now is not the time to remain silent, some things are simply too much to bear.”

The original NBT post also carried a longer caption quoting Jayant Chaudhary on the political situation and referring to the community of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh. The wording seen in the viral graphic was not present in the original post.

Further, Navbharat Times issued a clarification on September 10, stating that several fake posts were being circulated on social media in its name and advised users to rely only on its official social media handles and platforms for authentic information.

Hence, it is evident that the viral graphic falsely attributes a statement about the Jat community to Jayant Chaudhary. The graphic is edited and fake.
