Formula 1 and the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) have announced the 2027 FIA Formula One World Championship calendar, featuring 24 Grands Prix across 22 countries and a record 10 Sprint events, following approval by the World Motor Sport Council.
Pre-season testing will be held in Sakhir, Bahrain, from February 24 to 27, before the season begins at the same venue from March 12 to 14. The opening stretch will then feature races in Saudi Arabia, Australia, Japan and China, followed by the Miami and Canadian Grands Prix.
The European leg will include Formula 1’s return to Portugal in June, following Monaco, while Türkiye will return to the calendar in October between Azerbaijan and Singapore.
The final phase of the season will feature races in AustiSakhir, Bahrain,n, Mexico City, Sao Paulo and Las Vegas, before the championship concludes with rounds in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
The calendar brings together established circuits and major destinations across five continents, with organisers saying its geographical sequencing also supports Formula 1’s long-term sustainability objectives.
The number of Sprint events has increased from six in 2026 to 10 in 2027, following what Formula 1 described as strong demand for the format. Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Monaco and Abu Dhabi will host Sprint events for the first time.
Sprint events will also return to Montreal, Silverstone, Monza, Sao Paulo and Lusail. Monaco will feature two qualifying sessions, adding a Sprint weekend to the iconic street circuit.
According to Formula 1, Sprint weekends have recorded 12 per cent higher total viewership than non-Sprint weekends since the format was introduced in 2021. It also said 82 per cent of attendees at Sprint weekends believe the format adds value to their tickets, while 75 per cent of F1 fans feel Sprint events add greater value to the season.
