Delhi Man Goes Missing In Gurugram, Found Dead In Drain; Two Arrested

New Delhi: A 31-year-old Delhi man who went to Gurugram for a meeting with his former office colleague was allegedly murdered and his body later found in a drain, with Delhi Police arresting two people in connection with the case.

The accused, identified as Anya Vats, Yuvraj Singh Manchanda’s former colleague, and her associate Sanyam Sachdeva, were arrested in Uttarakhand and remanded to five days’ police custody. Police said the two allegedly shot Yuvraj and disposed of his body in a drain near their house in Gurugram’s Badshahpur.

Yuvraj, a Sarita Vihar resident, went missing on September 6 after leaving his family at a restaurant in Lajpat Nagar-II. He had told them he was going to Gurugram for a meeting and would return by around 10 pm. His sister lodged a missing complaint on September 11 after he failed to return.

During the investigation, police analysed call and internet records, CCTV footage and other technical evidence. They found that Yuvraj’s last conversation was with Vats, who had worked with him at Emaar Group until 2022.

Police later traced a new mobile number allegedly being used by Vats to Uttarakhand and arrested her and Sachdeva. During questioning, the two allegedly disclosed their involvement in Yuvraj’s murder and the disposal of his body.

The investigation also linked the case to an unidentified body recovered from a drain in Badshahpur on September 10. Yuvraj’s family identified him from photographs based on his clothes and physical appearance.

The family has questioned the handling of the body and alleged that Gurugram Police attributed his death to drowning, while they maintain that he was shot dead. They also alleged that the body was cremated before they were informed and that they were not shown the post-mortem report.

Delhi Police said the material collected so far prima facie established the involvement of the two accused in the alleged murder and disposal of the body. Further investigation is underway, police said.
