Asian Games: Vikrant Baliyan Knocked Out Of Men’s 75kg Sanda Event

India’s Vikrant Baliyan was knocked out of the men’s 75kg Sanda competition at the Asian Games 2026 after losing 0-2 to Iran’s Soheil Mousavi in the Round of 16 on Sunday.

Mousavi dominated the bout, winning both rounds 5-0 to secure his place in the quarterfinals and end Baliyan’s campaign in the event.

Baliyan, a World Wushu Championships bronze medallist, had moved up to the 75kg category for the Aichi-Nagoya Games after competing in the 65kg division at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou.

The Indian was one of the country’s four Sanda competitors at the Games, alongside Aryan Sood in the men’s 56kg category, Aparna Dahiya in the women’s 52kg division and Naorem Roshibina Devi in the women’s 60kg category.

India have won 10 Wushu medals in Asian Games history, including two silver and eight bronze medals. Naorem Roshibina Devi won India’s latest Wushu medal, a silver in the women’s 60kg Sanda event at the Hangzhou Games.
