Asian Games: Suruchi Singh, Kamaljeet Claim India’s Second Gold In Shooting

Aichi-Nagoya: Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet delivered India’s second gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games after emerging victorious in the 10m air pistol mixed team competition.

The Indian duo dominated the final with 484.6 points, finishing ahead of South Korea’s 478.0 for the silver medal. Iran completed the podium with 415.8 points, while Indonesia were knocked out after posting 349.4.

India took control right from the opening series, with Suruchi and Kamaljeet combining for 103 points to establish an early lead. They maintained their advantage through the subsequent rounds despite a strong response from South Korea, who briefly narrowed the gap during the second series.

The Indians entered the second stage with a 303.5-point total and continued to build their cushion. A score of 61.2 in the opening series of Stage 2 lifted them to 364.7, while Indonesia’s exit left India, South Korea and Iran competing for the medals.

Suruchi and Kamaljeet then stretched their lead to 8.4 points after the next series, reaching 424.9. South Korea finished that stage on 416.5, while Iran secured bronze with 415.8.

Although the South Koreans mounted a late challenge, the Indian shooters held their composure in the deciding series to seal the title by 6.6 points.

Their winning score also rewrote the Asian record of 481.3, previously held by Uzbekistan and set at the Asian Shooting Championships in New Delhi earlier this year.

The victory took India’s medal count at the Games to 19, with two gold, eight silver and nine bronze medals.
