IndiGo Flight Hits Tail While Landing In Bengaluru, DGCA Orders Probe

A Bengaluru-bound IndiGo flight suffered a tail strike while landing at Kempegowda International Airport, prompting the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to initiate an investigation.

Flight 6E 6542 had departed from Guwahati earlier in the day. IndiGo said the aircraft experienced an “Abnormal Runway Contact” while landing amid gusty weather. No casualties were reported, and all passengers and crew members safely disembarked.

The airline said the concerned authorities were informed according to standard procedures, while the aircraft was sent for maintenance inspections. It will return to service after receiving the required clearances, IndiGo said.

The incident comes after several other IndiGo aircraft incidents reported this month. On September 4, an IndiGo aircraft clipped a Visual Docking Guidance System pole while taxiing into its parking bay at Srinagar Airport.

On September 10, a Lucknow-Dammam flight made an emergency landing in Ahmedabad following a bomb threat. On September 15, an Agartala-Delhi flight was diverted to Lucknow after a smoke warning in its cargo area.

Earlier, on September 1, a Delhi-bound IndiGo flight returned to Goa after an engine failure was reported mid-air.
