Verified: This Celebration Video Predates Flydubai Mid-Air Incident

A video showing a group of passengers singing and celebrating aboard an aircraft is being widely shared on social media with the claim that it shows passengers celebrating after they thwarted an alleged hijack attempt on a Flydubai flight travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv.

A Facebook user posted the viral post with the following caption:

THIS is the Israeli spirit. 🇮🇱🎶
Israeli passengers aboard Flydubai Flight FZ1073 reportedly helped subdue the suspected attacker after a violent cockpit incident sent their Tel Aviv-bound plane plunging thousands of feet.
Crew members and pilots traveling aboard the flight then helped regain control, and the plane landed safely in Saudi Arabia. Israeli authorities are investigating the incident as a suspected terror attack.
And after all that?
The Israeli passengers pulled out the music and started singing. 🎶🇮🇱
They faced terror. They fought back. Then they chose joy.
That’s the Israeli spirit.

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post and found the claims to be false.

To verify the video, we conducted a reverse image search using keyframes from the viral clip. The search led us to an X post by user @Yanir_Roiter, dated July 5, 2026, carrying the same video. This establishes that the footage was online nearly three months before the Flydubai incident on September 30, 2026.

Further examination of the account revealed another post by the same user addressing the video’s recent circulation. The user clarified that people were mistakenly assuming the footage was from the Flydubai flight, indicating that the clip was unrelated to the recent incident.

Taking a cue from this, we conducted further searches and found an even older version of the same video posted by Israeli sports outlet Sport5 on August 18, 2025.

The Hebrew caption accompanying the video referred to Israeli basketball player Yam Madar and made no reference to Flydubai or any hijacking incident.

This confirms that the video had been circulating online for more than a year before the September 2026 Flydubai incident. However, we could not independently establish the exact date or location where the viral video was originally recorded.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show passengers celebrating after they thwarted an alleged hijack attempt on a Flydubai flight travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv, is false.
