Chandigarh: Punjab’s final electoral roll has recorded 2,01,00,727 electors across the state’s 117 Assembly constituencies, following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, according to the Chief Electoral Officer’s office. Published on Monday, the list marks a decline of more than 13.6 lakh voters, or 6.33 per cent, from the 2,14,61,043 electors registered before the revision began.
However, the final count is 3.64 per cent higher than the 1,93,94,435 electors listed in the draft roll published on August 13.
The final list includes 1,03,76,026 male voters, 97,24,195 female voters and 506 third-gender electors. Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra said 7,97,263 new electors were enrolled.
The Election Commission of India directed the revision on May 14, with the exercise beginning on June 25 as part of Phase III of SIR 2026.
Booth-level officers conducted house-to-house enumeration until August 3. The claims and objections period ran from August 13 to September 12, followed by the notice and disposal phase through October 8.
Notices were issued to 35,49,036 electors, of whom 86,038 were declared ineligible after verification. Polling stations were increased from 24,453 to 25,332 to improve accessibility.
Authorities also organised voter-awareness campaigns, special camps and enrolment drives in educational institutions.
Mitra described the exercise as transparent and time-bound. Eligible voters missing from the final list, including new applicants, can seek enrolment through the ECINET app or their booth-level officer by submitting Form 6, she said.
