The White House did not provide a reason for the request in the remarks made public during the briefing.
Guilfoyle, a former television personality and a prominent ally of President Donald Trump, was appointed ambassador to Greece as part of the administration’s diplomatic team.
The development marks a significant change in the US diplomatic representation in Greece. Further details about the circumstances surrounding the resignation request were not immediately available.
