US President Donald Trump on Tuesday accused Iran of backing Yemen’s Houthi rebels in their renewed attacks on Saudi Arabia, describing Tehran as a “failing nation” and criticising the group’s activities in a post on Truth Social.
Trump said the Houthis had remained largely silent after US forces bombed their positions last year but had now resurfaced, allegedly at Iran’s behest.
“The Houthis are behaving very badly,” Trump wrote, claiming that the group had resumed its activities despite the earlier US military campaign against it.

Describing Iran as a country with no navy or air force, Trump alleged that it was facing inflation of 301 per cent, had a severely weakened economy and was struggling to pay its troops. He also accused Tehran of deliberately attempting to push up global oil prices ahead of the US elections.
Trump further criticised the Houthis for targeting Saudi Arabia, saying their actions were unacceptable. He asserted that he had already won a “massive landslide” and warned that he would remain engaged after the elections, adding that he would not forget the group’s actions.
The post comes amid a series of Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, including strikes on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport that have killed at least 13 people, wounded more than 300 and forced the airport’s closure.
