Saudi Aramco Headquarters Hit By Missile Amid Escalating Houthi Conflict

An administrative building at Saudi Aramco’s headquarters complex in Dhahran, eastern Saudi Arabia, was struck by a ballistic missile on Tuesday night, causing a limited fire but no casualties, according to the reports.

The missile damaged the top three floors of an office tower. Authorities said emergency measures were taken following the incident.

The Saudi-led coalition also reported intercepting missiles and drones over Dhahran, Riyadh and the kingdom’s southern region. In Riyadh, falling missile debris injured four people, including a child, and damaged 15 homes.

The attack came amid escalating Houthi missile and drone strikes against Saudi targets, including Riyadh’s international airport.

Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree had warned of a “harsh and painful” response to Saudi-led strikes in Yemen, identifying Aramco’s Dhahran headquarters and an oil refinery in Riyadh as potential targets.

Saudi Arabia has resumed military operations in support of Yemen’s internationally recognised government after Houthi advances towards the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

The renewed fighting is unfolding alongside the wider US-Iran war, which began with US-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28.

The Saudi-led coalition confirmed strikes on fuel depots and other sites near Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, saying the operations aimed to limit threats to Saudi Arabia, Yemen and international waterways.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has offered to mediate between Riyadh and the Houthis as regional tensions continue to rise.
