A video showing four young women dancing in the middle of a crowd is being widely shared on social media with the claim that it was recorded during the recent Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.
In the viral video, the women can be seen dancing to the Bollywood song ‘Character Dheela Hai’, while several young people gather around them. The clip is being circulated in the backdrop of protests held in Delhi and Mumbai on October 2, with several users mocking the demonstrators.
A Facebook user posted the viral post with the following caption:
इस्तीफ़ा तो बाद में भी हो जाएगा पहले ये देख 😝🤣 अगर आप लोगों को लगता है कि ये सच में ज्ञानेश कुमार के इस्तीफे के लिए प्रोटेस्ट है तो सॉरी भैया निपट टुचिये हो आप 🙏
ENGLISH: The resignation can be done later, but first see this 😝🤣 If you guys think this is really a protest for Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation, then sorry brother, you’re a complete jerk 🙏

NM VERIFIED
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post and found the claims to be false.
To verify the video, we conducted a reverse image search using keyframes from the viral clip. The search led us to a video uploaded on YouTube by IIT Delhi student Devendra Parihar on October 4, 2026, featuring the same dance performance.
According to the video’s description, the footage was recorded during a ‘Boy vs Girl Street Dance Battle’ organised as part of IIT Delhi’s annual cultural festival, Rendezvous. The competition took place at Red Square on the IIT Delhi campus.
On comparing the original video with the viral clip, we noticed several alterations.
In the original footage, a red text overlay reads ‘SHE REALLY ATE THAT DROP’. However, in the viral version, this text has been covered with a white banner carrying a Hindi caption suggesting that the dancers were participating in protests demanding Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.
Additionally, the original video features an English song playing in the background, while the viral version has been edited to include the Bollywood song ‘Character Dheela Hai’.
We also noticed that the word ‘BATTLE’ was written on the ground at the venue, further indicating that the footage was recorded during a dance competition rather than a political demonstration.
We found the same video from different angles on another YouTube channel and Instagram accounts.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show four young women dancing in the middle of a crowd and that it was recorded during the recent Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, is false.
