Delhi Police Urges Abhijeet Dipke To Call Off Tiranga March

New Delhi: Delhi Police has urged Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke to cancel a planned Tiranga march at Connaught Place’s Central Park on October 16, citing restrictions in the New Delhi area.

A police team visited Dipke’s residence on Friday and advised him against holding the gathering. Officers also informed him about prohibitory orders imposed under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and appealed to him to maintain peace and law and order.

The party had called on its supporters and members of the public to gather at Central Park and wave the national flag in protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral irregularities.

The proposed march also follows the arrests of two CJP members, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. They were sent to five-day judicial custody after entering Jantar Mantar with the national flag on October 13, a day after the site was denotified for protests.

According to a police officer, the team served Dipke a notice and obtained his acknowledgement before leaving.

During a livestream shared by the party, Dipke questioned the police over the restrictions, asking, “Is Tiranga unlawful?” The officer responded, “it is the country’s pride.”
