Piyush Goyal To Visit US For G20 Trade Meet In September

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is set to visit the United States in late September to attend the G20 Trade Ministerial in Milwaukee and hold bilateral discussions with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.

The two-day ministerial is scheduled to begin on September 30, with the US holding the G20 presidency in 2026. Trade pact issues are expected to feature in Goyal’s discussions with Greer as India and the US continue negotiations on a bilateral trade agreement.

According to sources quoted by reports both countries remain in regular contact on the proposed agreement. Goyal is also expected to meet other counterparts on the sidelines of the ministerial to discuss strengthening bilateral trade and investment.

The visit comes as negotiations continue over the first phase of the India-US trade agreement. Both sides had announced the finalisation of its framework in February, but changes in the US tariff landscape led to further discussions.

The US has imposed an additional 10 per cent tariff on several countries, including India, from July 24. India exported goods worth around USD 87 billion to the US in 2025-26.

Goyal and Greer had also held bilateral talks in June on issues linked to the first phase of the agreement.
