Washington: US President Donald Trump has announced plans to spend more than $400 million by Election Day to support Republican candidates in the 2026 midterm elections, citing his confidence in the party’s policies and principles.

In a post on Truth Social on Tuesday, Trump said over $300 million had already been spent on political advertising, voter outreach, rallies, telephone campaigns, get-out-the-vote initiatives and election integrity efforts.
Explaining his decision, Trump referred to the ongoing situation in France and other parts of Europe, saying these developments had influenced his thinking ahead of the crucial elections.
Trump described the spending as an honour and credited the Republican Party with helping steer the country away from what he called the “Edge of Oblivion.”
He also reiterated his support for the party’s political agenda, ending his message with his familiar slogan, “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
The announcement comes as Republicans prepare for the 2026 midterm elections, with Trump committing substantial financial support to efforts aimed at strengthening the party’s position by Election Day.
