NewsMobile investigated the viral post and found the claims to be false.

To verify the video, we conducted a reverse image search using keyframes from the viral footage. The search led us to a higher-quality version of the same video uploaded on Facebook on October 6, 2026.

Although this post also claimed that the video was from Delhi, a closer examination of the footage revealed several clues suggesting otherwise.

In the background, we noticed a banner displayed on a pedestrian footbridge reading “Diyandi Festival sa Iligan.” We also identified a shop named “Shann Gadget” along the road. Taking a cue from these details, we conducted a keyword search for the Diyandi Festival and found that it is an annual religious and cultural celebration held in Iligan City, Philippines.

The month-long festival is celebrated in September and concludes on September 29, honouring the city’s patron saint, St. Michael the Archangel. We then searched for the shop Shann Gadget on Google Maps and located it on Roxas Avenue in Iligan City, opposite Gaisano Citi Super Mall.

On comparing the surroundings visible in the viral footage with Google Street View imagery of the location, we found several matching visual elements, confirming that the video was recorded in Iligan City rather than Delhi.

Further searches led us to multiple videos shared by Facebook users based in Iligan City during September 2026, showing celebrations at the same location.

One video uploaded on September 29, 2026, showed the same pedestrian footbridge with the banner reading “Diyandi Festival sa Iligan.” Another video posted on the same date featured a fire truck parked at the location visible in the viral footage, providing additional corroboration of the location.

These visual similarities establish that the viral video is from Iligan City in the Philippines and is unrelated to the protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. However, the exact date on which the viral video was recorded could not be independently established.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show protesters demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar in Delhi on October 10, 2026, is false.
