External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday met Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and discussed ways to expand cooperation between the two countries across various sectors.
Jaishankar said he appreciated Tusk’s views on strengthening bilateral engagement and expressed hope that the Polish leader’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi would help advance the India-Poland Strategic Partnership.
Tusk is on an official visit to India from October 21 to 23 at Modi’s invitation. He arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday, accompanied by Poland’s Minister of Finance and Economy Andrzej Domanski and a business delegation.
During his visit, Tusk is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Modi to review ties and exchange views on regional and international developments. He will also attend the India-Poland Business Forum in the national capital before travelling to Bengaluru on Friday for engagements with representatives of India’s information technology and space sectors.
The visit is aimed at strengthening cooperation in areas including trade, defence and technology, while creating further opportunities for business engagement between the two countries.
India and Poland elevated their bilateral relationship to a Strategic Partnership during Modi’s visit to Poland in August 2024. Tusk’s visit is the first by a Polish prime minister to India since 2010.
