Trump Warns Of New ‘Epic Fury’ as Iran Threatens Gulf Internet Cables

Washington, D.C.: US President Donald Trump on Friday warned that Washington could launch another military operation against Iran, as tensions rise over the ongoing conflict and Tehran reportedly prepares retaliatory plans targeting undersea communications cables in the Gulf.

Speaking at a rally in Florida, Trump said the US could conduct another operation under the name “Epic Fury,” referring to the military campaign launched on February 28.

He also said Washington could end the war quickly but questioned whether to pursue an immediate conclusion or allow the conflict to gradually lose momentum.

According to the reports, Tehran had developed plans to target undersea cables if the United States and Israel resume attacks.

One official warned that repairs could be obstructed to prolong disruptions. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have also raised the possibility of targeting major internet cables beneath the Strait of Hormuz.

The threats have raised concerns about regional stability, global energy prices and digital infrastructure.

Undersea cables carry around 99 per cent of global internet traffic, although less than 1 per cent of international bandwidth passes through the Strait of Hormuz, according to industry estimates.

Foreign ministers from several countries, including France, Germany and Turkey, warned that renewed military action could widen the conflict and increase oil prices. They called for diplomacy and negotiations to prevent further escalation.

Gulf nations’ technology investments, including data centres and cloud services, could also face risks if the conflict intensifies.
