A video of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has gone viral on social media, with claims suggesting that he became emotional after being released from jail following his detention by the Delhi Police.
In the video, Dipke can be heard saying, “We are not criminals.” However, the claim accompanying the video is misleading.
Dipke was detained by the Delhi Police while attempting to take out a Tiranga Yatra in the national capital, following the detention of CJP leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurabh Das. Ranka and Das were later released on bail on October 21, 2026.

NewsMobile investigated the viral video and found that it is an old clip from a protest in Delhi and is unrelated to Dipke’s recent detention.
To verify the claim, we conducted a Google search using relevant keywords and found a longer version of the video posted by news agency IANS on its official account on July 18, 2026.
According to the accompanying information, the video shows Dipke speaking at a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi against the NEET paper leak. Social activist Sonam Wangchuk was participating in a hunger strike in support of students when his health deteriorated. The Delhi Police subsequently took him to a hospital.
Following the incident, Dipke became emotional while criticising the police action and questioning the manner in which Wangchuk was taken away.
In the video, Dipke says Wangchuk did not want to go to the hospital and instead wanted to march to Parliament. He further questioned why Wangchuk was taken away covered in sheets if the authorities were concerned about his health, arguing that he should have been treated with dignity.
The original video was shared by IANS on July 18, 2026, with a caption describing Dipke’s remarks about Wangchuk and his appeal for people to organise protests across states and districts.
Delhi: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke says, “He (Sonam Wangchuk) didn’t want to go to the hospital. He wanted to do the Parliament march. But what these police people have done- he was not a criminal. The way they took him away hidden under sheets- if you were so concerned about his health, you should have taken him with respect”
He adds, “…In every state, in every district, set up a Jantar Mantar! And protest there just like the way it has been going on here for a month…”

We also found a report published by Navbharat Times on July 18, 2026, which corroborates the context of the video. According to the report, Wangchuk was taken away from Jantar Mantar by the Delhi Police and admitted to a hospital. Dipke subsequently took the microphone at the protest and broke down while criticising the police action.
The report further quoted Dipke as saying that Wangchuk was not a criminal and should have been taken away with dignity rather than being covered with sheets.
In conclusion, the viral video does not show Abhijeet Dipke becoming emotional after his recent detention or release from jail. The footage dates back to July 18, 2026, and shows him reacting to the police action against Sonam Wangchuk during a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Therefore, the claim accompanying the video is misleading.
