New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held delegation-level talks with Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein at Hyderabad House in New Delhi during his second state visit to India. Modi earlier met the Hereditary Prince and Hereditary Princess Sophie at the venue.
The royal couple also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, participating in a wreath-laying ceremony and signing the visitors’ book. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary was present.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also called on Prince Alois and highlighted the growing momentum in bilateral relations.
In a post on X, Jaishankar said, “A pleasure to call on H.S.H. Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein, on a State Visit to India.”
“Our bilateral partnership is witnessing strong momentum across a wide range of domains, driven by the opportunities enabled by India – EFTA TEPA,” he added.
Prince Alois said Liechtenstein’s first state visit to India reflected the importance his country attached to its relationship with New Delhi. Speaking at a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan, attended by President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi, he said the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), which entered into force a year ago, marked a significant milestone.
He highlighted opportunities to expand economic cooperation in innovation, advanced manufacturing, financial services, education and technology.
The Ministry of External Affairs said the visit would provide renewed impetus to bilateral relations. Prince Alois arrived in New Delhi after visiting Vadodara, having travelled to Mumbai on Monday. He is accompanied by Princess Sophie, a high-level official delegation and a business delegation comprising industry leaders.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Jayant Chaudhary are also scheduled to call on the Hereditary Prince.
India and Liechtenstein established diplomatic relations in 1993 and marked 30 years of bilateral ties in 2023. Prince Alois previously visited New Delhi in February 2026 for the AI Impact Summit and visited India in 2010 and 2018.
According to the MEA, the delegation is scheduled to conclude its state visit and depart India on Wednesday.
