India Women Sweep Zimbabwe 3-0 After Vaishnavi’s Five-Wicket Haul

Vadodara: India women registered an eight-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the third ODI at the BCA Stadium on Wednesday to complete a 3-0 series sweep, with spinner Vaishnavi Sharma delivering a match-winning five-wicket spell before Pratika Rawal and Shafali Verma guided the chase with unbeaten half-centuries.

After opting to bat, Zimbabwe were bowled out for 131 in 39.5 overs as India’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings. Vaishnavi led the attack, while Sayali Satghare and Kranti Gaud claimed two wickets each.

Zimbabwe suffered an early collapse, losing Loryn Phiri and Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano in the opening overs. Vaishnavi then removed Beloved Biza before dismissing opener Modester Mupachikwa, who top-scored with 37, to break a developing partnership.

Captain Josephine Nkomo tried to stabilise the innings alongside Chiedza Dhururu, with the pair adding 43 runs for the fifth wicket. Dhururu scored 20 from 39 balls, but Vaishnavi’s spell disrupted the middle order and prevented Zimbabwe from building a competitive total.

India also lost an early wicket in the chase, with Yastika Bhatia falling to Nomvelo Sibanda on the first delivery of the innings. Harleen Deol contributed 19 off 19 balls before being dismissed by Loryn Phiri.

Rawal and Shafali ensured there were no further setbacks, putting together an unbeaten 74-run stand to take India across the finish line. Rawal scored 59 not out, while Shafali remained unbeaten on 51, completing her half-century with a six.

The victory completed India’s second clean sweep of the tour, following their 3-0 triumph in the T20I series against Zimbabwe. The hosts finished the ODI leg with another commanding performance, underlining their dominance across both formats.
