Delhi Police Arrest Two In Fake Russian Embassy Job Scam Targeting Indian Applicants

Delhi Police have arrested two men for allegedly operating a fraudulent overseas recruitment racket that used a fake Russian Embassy website to cheat Indian job seekers by collecting registration and examination fees.

The accused allegedly created fictitious recruiter profiles, email accounts, social media pages and WhatsApp communications to make the recruitment offers appear genuine. The racket came to light after the Russian Embassy lodged a complaint, alleging that its identity was being misused to advertise non-existent employment opportunities through a website, www.embassytest.com.

According to police, 17 job seekers have been identified as victims, while investigators detected approximately 50 suspicious financial transactions, most involving payments of around Rs 875.

The investigation led police to Aman Kumar (25), a BBA graduate employed as a stock control analyst in Middlesbrough, UK. He had allegedly been operating the fraud from Britain after travelling there in December 2025. He was arrested on October 26 when he visited his hometown in India. The second accused, Vivek Kumar, a resident of Darbhanga in Bihar, was also arrested.

Police traced the operation through technical records, IP logs, telecom details and financial transactions, which reportedly revealed the use of UK-based payment infrastructure.

An FIR was registered on June 24 at the Cyber Police Station of New Delhi district under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including cheating, impersonation, forgery and criminal conspiracy.

During searches, police seized two mobile phones and two SIM cards, including a UK-based SIM. Examination of the devices reportedly uncovered domain-management records and recruitment-related communications linked to the fraudulent website.

Both accused have been remanded to police custody. Further investigation is underway to identify additional victims, establish the total amount involved and trace other possible beneficiaries.
