New Delhi: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has criticised the Congress over an image allegedly generated using artificial intelligence (AI) showing crowds at Sunday’s Ramlila Grounds rally organised by the Opposition INDIA bloc.
Sharing an image posted by Congress MP Vamsi Gaddam and other party leaders, Rijiju accused the Congress of using AI-generated visuals to depict a large turnout.
रामलीला मैदान में भारी भीड़ दिखाने के लिए, कांग्रेस पार्टी को कम से कम AI से बनी तस्वीर तो ठीक से तैयार करनी चाहिए थी।
Even the fake AI photo to show that Ramlila ground was full is not done properly by the fake narrative team of Congress Party! https://t.co/uBAf9NIPau

“Even the fake AI photo to show that Ramlila ground was full is not done properly by the fake narrative team of Congress Party!” Rijiju posted on X.
The image was also shared by Congress supporters and former MP and CWC member Jagdish Thakor. Several users on X questioned its authenticity, pointing to AI-generated images of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi on the rally stage that appeared different from the original stage at the venue.
The BJP termed the rally a flop show on Sunday, claiming that at least 40 per cent of the ground was empty. Party leaders shared images and videos showing empty chairs, disputing the Congress’s claim that 10 lakh people would attend the protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
“The Congress said there will be a crowd of 10 lakh, but 40 per cent of the ground was empty,” BJP MP and spokesperson Sambit Patra said.
Calling the crowd visuals “trick photography”, Patra took a swipe at Rahul Gandhi, adding that “tricks don’t make one Prime Minister”. The Congress countered the BJP’s claims by sharing drone footage and images of the venue.
Addressing the rally, Gandhi alleged that the 2024 election was illegal due to vote theft by Gyanesh Kumar. He called the alleged theft “treason” and claimed Kumar would “go to jail” for his role, adding that Narendra Modi would not have become Prime Minister, nor Amit Shah Home Minister, without him.
Patra rejected the allegations, saying challenges to elections must be made immediately after polling and asking Gandhi to produce the petition declaring the 2024 election illegal.
The rally was part of the Opposition’s campaign seeking Kumar’s resignation following media reports questioning the Election Commission’s functioning and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls. On Saturday, the INDIA bloc held a symbolic “impeachment” of Kumar at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence.
The Election Commission and the BJP have rejected the allegations, accusing the Opposition of spreading a “fake narrative” against the institution.
