One person was killed and five others were injured after gunfire broke out near a rave party in the northern Swiss town of Aarau, police said on Sunday.
Authorities launched a large-scale operation in the area and said the suspects had not yet been identified. Police added that the motive and the exact circumstances behind the shooting remained unclear.
The incident took place west of Zurich, with local media reporting that the shots were fired shortly before 3am near the annual Aarauer Rave.
Around 3,500 people had attended the techno event, which began at 3pm on Saturday and was scheduled to continue until 2am on Sunday. Police spokesperson Vanessa Rumpold told Blick that the shooting occurred at the racecourse where the event was being held.
“Several shots were fired within a large group of people,” she said.
A witness also described hearing “bursts of gunfire”.
