Iran FM Araghchi Calls Netanyahu A “Serpent” Amid Fresh US-Iran Tensions

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has launched a sharp attack on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling him a “serpent” and accusing him of persuading Washington to enter the war against Iran on Israel’s behalf.

In a post on X, Araghchi pointed to Netanyahu’s remarks in Hebrew, claiming the Israeli leader had openly spoken about influencing the US administration through extensive appearances on American television networks. Araghchi contrasted those comments with Netanyahu’s praise of US President Donald Trump in English, before adding, “Serpent.”

The remarks come amid continuing tensions between Iran, Israel and the United States. The conflict began on February 28 with US-Israeli strikes that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior military officials. Iran responded with attacks across the region as the fighting expanded.

An April ceasefire reduced the most intense clashes, but attacks around the Strait of Hormuz have continued, making a lasting peace agreement more difficult.

The United States recently struck Iran’s Larak Island, marking its first such attack in a month. Iran said it responded by targeting US military bases in Jordan and the UAE. Last week, Netanyahu rejected the possibility of a US-Iran agreement and described Iran’s leadership as “savages.”
