Moore-Miller Home Run at Potomac Fundraiser

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore and Lt. Gov. Aruna Miller headlined a fundraising event on Thursday at the Potomac home of prominent nephrologist Dr Arul Vigg, drawing hundreds of supporters and prominent members of the state’s Asian American and Pacific Islander community ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections.

The Sept. 3 gathering was hosted by Vigg and co-hosted by attorney and Democratic leader Devang Shah. The event brought together supporters of the Moore-Miller ticket as the Democratic duo campaigns for re-election.

Moore, seeking a second term as governor, praised Miller’s role in the administration and thanked the hosts for their continued support. He also highlighted his administration’s commitment to building an inclusive Maryland and ensuring that immigrants and communities across the state have a place in its future.

Speaking at the event, Moore expressed his personal gratitude to Vigg and his family, recalling their support during his first campaign four years ago.

“Four years ago, we did not just find a supporter. We found people who became dear friends, people who we call on, people who rely on, people who we love and adore,” Moore said.

He thanked the family for once again opening their home to supporters and praised their continued involvement in his political journey.

“And we want to say thank you for continuing to open up again, not just this beautiful home, like this is wild, but also just your beautiful heart,” Moore said. “So bless you. And thank you so much for all you do for all of us.”

Moore also singled out Miller, saying the administration’s work could not be discussed without recognizing the lieutenant governor’s contribution.

“The Moore-Miller administration — you do not have to look any further than our lieutenant governor, Aruna Miller,” he said, expressing his gratitude for her service.

Miller, Maryland’s 10th lieutenant governor, immigrated to the United States from India with her family when she was 7. She later worked for 25 years in Montgomery County’s Department of Transportation before serving in the Maryland House of Delegates.

The fundraiser comes as Moore and Miller intensify their campaign for another term, with their campaign continuing to emphasize the slogan “Leave No One Behind.” Their re-election campaign describes the message as central to their vision of expanding opportunities for Maryland families.

The event also underscored the political engagement of Maryland’s AAPI community, which has emerged as an important constituency for Democrats in the state.

With the November elections approaching, Moore is seeking to build on his first-term record while presenting the Moore-Miller partnership as a continuation of his administration’s focus on economic opportunity, inclusion and ensuring that Marylanders from all backgrounds are part of the state’s future.
