Responding to Modi’s message, Meloni said the relationship between India and Italy had reached a stronger position than ever. She also highlighted the growing Special Strategic Partnership between the two countries and their plans to expand cooperation.
“Thank you, dear Narendra Modi, for your words and for your friendship. The relationship between Italy and India is today stronger than ever,” she wrote on X.
Meloni said the Special Strategic Partnership reflects the importance both nations place on their relationship and their efforts to combine their strengths to create new opportunities for growth.
“The Special Strategic Partnership that we launched during our last meeting is the recognition of the importance of this bond and of the will to unite the expertise of our Nations to create new opportunities for growth, seizing the extraordinary opportunities for collaboration that we have before us,” she added.
She also stressed cooperation on the India-Middle-East-Europe Economic Corridor, or IMEC, as part of efforts to strengthen connectivity between Europe and India.
Earlier, PM Modi had praised Meloni’s milestone, saying it reflected the trust and confidence of the Italian people in her leadership.
