At least four passenger flights across Europe faced suspected bomb threats on Tuesday, November 3, triggering emergency diversions, security checks and investigations in Poland, Spain and Bulgaria.
All four aircraft landed safely, following which police and counter-terrorism teams were deployed to examine the threats.
In Poland, two flights were reportedly affected. A LOT Polish Airlines Boeing 737 MAX travelling from London’s Heathrow Airport to Warsaw was diverted to Warsaw-Modlin Airport after a bomb threat was received at 9:54 am local time.
The aircraft landed at 10:01 am with 181 passengers on board, including Jewish students aged 16 and 17 who were travelling on a school trip. All passengers were evacuated, and the aircraft was moved to a designated isolated area for inspection.
Operations at Modlin Airport were temporarily suspended before resuming later. The latest incidents come a day after a separate bomb threat forced a Wizz Air flight travelling from London to Sofia to divert to Budapest.
