Washington — US President Donald Trump has warned retired Army Lt. Gen. Brett Sylvia of serious consequences following his dismissal by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth over allegations of leaking classified information related to the Iran War and other conflicts.
“She’s got problems. She’s going to have big problems,” Trump told reporters on Thursday, adding that authorities were actively searching for individuals leaking sensitive information.
A War Department official said Sylvia was removed over alleged misconduct and is under investigation for disclosures concerning the Iran War and the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The official claimed Sylvia failed three polygraph tests related to the allegations and said the investigation had been referred to the Department of Justice for further action.
However, the department disputed claims that Sylvia was a central planner of the Iran War, stating that responsibility rested with US Central Command and its commander, Admiral Cooper.
Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell reiterated the department’s zero-tolerance policy toward unauthorised disclosures of classified information, warning that such leaks could endanger military personnel and operations.
