YouTube Introduces Custom Feeds, Moves Subscriptions To Home Screen Top Bar

YouTube has introduced new features to give users greater control over their viewing preferences, including prompt-based Custom Feeds and redesigned mobile navigation that makes subscriptions and content categories easier to access.

The Custom Feeds feature allows users to tap the “+” button at the top of the Home feed and describe the topics, channels or moods they want to explore.

For example, users can request guided meditations under 10 minutes. The platform then creates a personalized feed that automatically updates with relevant new videos.

Users can save and edit feeds at any time. Free users can maintain up to three Custom Feeds, while YouTube Premium subscribers can save up to eight.

Feeds created on mobile also sync with desktop browsers when users are signed into the same Google account.

The feature is rolling out in English to signed-in users in the United States aged 13 and above, provided their YouTube search history is enabled. YouTube plans to expand availability to other regions.

Separately, YouTube is redesigning the mobile Home tab with a new top navigation bar. The Subscriptions feed, renamed “Subs”, has moved to the top alongside dedicated Live and Music feeds.

A Movies & TV option is also available to viewers with eligible active paid content subscriptions.

YouTube said the navigation changes are part of a broader series of updates aimed at improving content discovery and making the Home experience easier to use.
