‘Recovering Well’ Says Indian Embassy After Pilot Smit Machchhar Shifted To UAE

Indian pilot Smit Machchhar, who was injured after being stabbed aboard a Flydubai flight, has been transferred from Saudi Arabia to the United Arab Emirates and is recovering well.

The Indian Embassy in the UAE said Ambassador Deepak Mittal visited Captain Machchhar and his family at the hospital on Thursday.

The meeting came a day after the pilot was injured during the incident involving his Omani co-pilot, who was allegedly trying to crash the aircraft.

According to the embassy, Machchhar is in good health and continues to recover. He is also said to be speaking and laughing while receiving medical care.

The embassy shared an update on X, saying, “Captain Machchhar is in good health and recovering well.”

It also said, “The Embassy remains in close coordination with local authorities to ensure his continued medical care and well-being.”

Machchhar was earlier being treated in Saudi Arabia following the incident aboard the Flydubai plane. He has now been moved to the UAE, where he remains under medical care as he recovers from his injuries.
