India’s Abhay Singh secured the silver medal in men’s singles squash at the Asian Games after losing the final to Malaysia’s Ng Eain Yow in straight games, 11-9, 11-5, 11-5.
Yow, the defending champion and tournament top seed, controlled most of the contest with his long, physically demanding style. Abhay briefly led 3-2 in the opening game but could not maintain the advantage. He saved one game point at 8-10 before Yow closed it out 11-9.
The Malaysian then built an early lead in the second game and went on to win 11-5.
Abhay started the third strongly, moving 4-2 ahead, but a series of unforced errors allowed Yow to level at 4-4.
Yow took the lead at 6-5 and then won the remaining points to seal the title and a place at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
Abhay’s silver is only India’s second Asian Games singles squash medal, after Saurav Ghosal’s silver at Hangzhou.
Earlier, Malaysia’s Sivasangari Subramaniam defeated India’s Anahat Singh 11-4, 11-4, 11-7 in the women’s singles final.
