New Delhi: Abhishek Sharma produced a stunning batting display against Afghanistan in the third T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, smashing a century in just 30 balls.
The explosive knock made Abhishek the fastest Indian to score a hundred in T20Is, surpassing Rohit Sharma’s previous record of 35 balls, set against Sri Lanka in 2017.
By the time he reached three figures, Abhishek had struck 10 sixes and nine boundaries, while India’s score had moved to 132 without loss after 8.3 overs.
Following his century, Abhishek celebrated by sitting on the pitch and taking a meditation pose, replicating the famous celebration associated with Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.
He was eventually dismissed by Rashid Khan in the 10th over, finishing with 108 runs from 34 deliveries.
The innings also created another major record. Abhishek became the first batter in T20I history to score two centuries in fewer than 40 balls. His earlier achievement came in 2025, when he smashed a 37-ball hundred against England at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
