Asian Games: Roshibina Devi Reaches Wushu Final, Assures India Of Silver

Indian wushu exponent Roshibina Devi entered the women’s 60kg Sanda final at the Asian Games 2026 after defeating Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas 2-0 in the semi-final on Wednesday, assuring India of at least a silver medal.

Roshibina will now fight for the gold medal against China’s Zhang Xiaoyu in the final on Thursday.

The 26-year-old, who won silver in the same event at the Hangzhou Asian Games, has already matched India’s best-ever wushu performance at the continental Games and has an opportunity to go one step further in the title bout.

Roshibina’s journey to the Asian Games squad was also marked by a late change in India’s selection. She was not initially included in the team, but entered the squad after Divyanshi, the original selection in the category, was ruled out with an injury.

The Manipuri fighter began her campaign at the Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall with a quarter-final victory over Chu Man Sin on Tuesday. The win secured her a place in the last four and guaranteed India a medal.

Roshibina then produced another assured performance against Thania in the semi-final to book her place in the gold-medal contest.

India also added several medals across disciplines on Wednesday as its campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games continued. The country currently occupies 13th position in the medal standings with 12 medals.

Roshibina’s silver is assured, but the Indian wushu player will return to action on Thursday with a chance to convert it into gold.
