BJP Launches Statewide Agitation Against Rahul Gandhi And Congress

Assam: More than 30,000 people gathered in Assam’s Nalbari town on Tuesday for a rally organised under the banner of Jan Jagaran Samdal, expressing support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The attendance figure, provided by organisers, could not be independently verified.

The rally was attended by Assam Cabinet Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah, Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia, state BJP organising secretary Ravindra Raju and other party leaders.

Jayanta Malla Baruah Calls For SIR Every Five Years

Addressing the gathering, Baruah called for a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls every five years, saying no foreign national should remain on Assam’s voter list. He also urged the Election Commission to properly scrutinise electoral rolls, citing Assam’s history of agitation against illegal immigration.

Baruah criticised Rahul Gandhi and the Congress over allegations of EVM irregularities and demands for ballot paper voting. He also targeted CAA protesters and groups he described as ideological Naxals, alleging that they received foreign assistance.

Young Supporters Defend BJP

Young participants highlighted employment, education, infrastructure development and cultural identity as reasons for supporting the BJP-led governments.

Bidita Bhattacharya said the rally demonstrated support for Modi and electoral roll revision, declaring, “The real Gen-Z is standing right here.”

She also criticised Rahul Gandhi and the opposition, accusing them of aligning with anti-national elements, and stressed the importance of preserving India’s cultural heritage.

The gathering comes amid a wider debate over young voters’ attitudes towards the BJP. However, the views expressed at the rally represent its participants and do not establish the political preferences of Gen-Z across Assam.
