BRICS Chairship Passes To China as PM Modi Calls For Concrete Results

New Delhi: The BRICS chairship has formally passed from India to China, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi extending his best wishes to Beijing and calling for “concrete results” as the grouping enters its third decade of cooperation.

Addressing the concluding session of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, Modi said the world expects the grouping to deliver tangible outcomes rather than remain limited to ideas and commitments.

He expressed confidence that BRICS members would meet these expectations through collective efforts.

Modi congratulated China on taking over the chairship and hosting the 19th BRICS Summit in 2027. He also commended the leaders and their teams for contributing to the successful conclusion of the New Delhi Summit.

The Prime Minister stressed that BRICS has evolved into an “ecosystem of solutions” and that its initiatives must translate into real-life impact.

The New Delhi Declaration, adopted unanimously during the summit, provides direction for the grouping’s shared vision and future cooperation, with member countries expected to turn its commitments into tangible results.

China’s chairship will now shape the bloc’s agenda for the coming year, as BRICS seeks to strengthen cooperation and expand its role on global platforms.

Xi Jinping has said China will work with members to build consensus and open a new phase of BRICS cooperation.
