New Delhi: The Delhi Cabinet has approved the DURGA e-auto scheme, under which 1,300 pink electric autos will be allocated in the first phase to women and transgender persons.
The move is aimed at creating self-employment opportunities while expanding last-mile connectivity and electric mobility.
Of the total, 1,170 e-autos are reserved for women and 130 for transgender beneficiaries. Each of Delhi’s revenue districts can receive up to 90 autos for women and 10 for transgender applicants.
Who Can Apply?
Women applicants must be 20-40 years old, Delhi residents and hold a valid voter ID, LMV driving licence and PSV badge.
Their family income for 2025-26 must not exceed Rs 5 lakh, and neither the applicant nor her family can own a registered transport vehicle or three-wheeler. Women with more than three children are not eligible.
Transgender applicants must meet the same age, residency and driving-document requirements and additionally provide a valid transgender certificate issued by a Delhi District Magistrate’s office.
What Are the Rules?
Applications will be invited through a dedicated online portal, with its launch date yet to be announced.
The e-autos will have a three-year lock-in period, during which they cannot be sold or transferred, and will carry DURGA branding.
Charging facilities are available at parking areas of 70 Delhi Metro stations, while officials expect the scheme to generate additional work in servicing, repairs, charging and battery recycling.
