New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has called on NDMC employees to make the cleanliness achieved during the BRICS summit a regular standard across the city.
Speaking at the New Delhi Municipal Council convention centre, Sandhu acknowledged the civic staff’s efforts during the summit but stressed that the same level of work should continue even when no major international event is taking place.

“We recently saw the BRICS summit; everyone appreciated it. I only gave them credit for that – what you can deliver during BRICS, you should deliver on other days as well in Delhi,” he told.
Sandhu said clean roads and well-maintained parks must remain a continuing priority. He also sought cooperation from NDMC workers in improving security in the civic body’s jurisdiction, while highlighting the role of Delhi Police and the newly formed Pink Squad.

The Lieutenant Governor encouraged employees to communicate their concerns to senior officials and authorities, assuring them of efforts to resolve their problems.
He also called for greater involvement of schoolchildren in cleanliness drives, saying their participation could influence their families. Sandhu further proposed organising sports tournaments for students and asked the NDMC chairman to take forward the idea.
