Windsor: Former Prince Andrew, also known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, has received £302,000, equivalent to around $400,000, in compensation after giving up his lease on Royal Lodge, the Crown Estate confirmed on Friday.
The 30-room mansion near Windsor Castle had been his longtime residence. Earlier this year, King Charles III removed his younger brother’s royal titles and ordered him to leave the property following controversy over his association with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The move came amid growing public criticism and the release of US Department of Justice documents connected to the Epstein investigation.
Andrew left Royal Lodge in February, earlier than initially expected, and relocated to a residence on the King’s private Sandringham estate.
The Crown Estate manages land formally held by the monarch, with its proceeds benefiting taxpayers.
