India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been named in the India A squad for the three-match one-day series against Australia A, with the BCCI announcing separate teams for the ODI and multi-day fixtures on Wednesday.
Ruturaj Gaikwad will captain the 15-member ODI side, while Devdutt Padikkal has been appointed vice-captain. Sai Sudharsan, Rajat Patidar, Priyansh Arya, Kumar Kushagra, Nishant Sindhu, Arshin Kulkarni and Naman Dhir are among the other players selected.
Pandya’s selection, however, is subject to fitness clearance. Fast bowler V Vyshak, who features in the multi-day squad, is also awaiting clearance.
The ODI series will be played on October 6, 9 and 11 in Puducherry. Before that, the two multi-day games are scheduled from September 22-25 and September 29-October 2 at the same venue.
Padikkal will lead the multi-day team, with Sudharsan serving as his deputy. The squad includes Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, Tushar Deshpande, Anshul Kamboj, Shaik Rasheed, N Jagadeesan and Kumar Kushagra.
The series is expected to give both emerging and established players valuable match time as they prepare for their upcoming international assignments.
