VIDEO | Delhi: Addressing a press conference, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal says, "As we have noted in the past, the situation in the India-China border areas gets disturbed from time to time when Chinese forces deviate from established patrolling patterns. Both sides continue to use existing diplomatic and military mechanisms to resolve outstanding issues and avoid misunderstandings and miscalculations along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The two sides have also agreed to discuss ways to improve their understanding of the LAC in appropriate areas for better border management. Responding to recent remarks by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) chief, he said the situation in border areas is disturbed from time to time when Chinese forces deviate from established patrolling patterns.
He stressed that maintaining peace and tranquillity is essential for the overall development of bilateral relations.
On reports concerning Iranian aircraft and airspace clearance, Jaiswal said India continues to facilitate the transportation of life-saving medicines to Iran despite flight connectivity challenges caused by the regional conflict.
Regarding 14 Indian nationals involved in a yacht incident off Yemen, he said all were safe in Hodeidah and that the ministry remained in contact with relevant parties.
Jaiswal added that around 3,000 stranded Umrah pilgrims had returned from Saudi Arabia on available flights, along with more than 10,000 other pilgrims.
Arrangements are being discussed for the remaining travellers, while the Indian Embassy and Consulate continue providing assistance.
On defence exports, he said India’s exports comply with its national obligations, laws and guidelines.
