India Condemns Riyadh Airport Missile Attack That Killed 12, Calls Strikes ‘Unacceptable’

India on Sunday strongly condemned the missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, that killed 12 people and injured more than 300 others.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described repeated attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure as “completely unacceptable” and called for an immediate end to such strikes.

In its statement, the MEA condemned the repeated attacks on the airport, including the October 10 strike, which caused deaths, injuries and property damage.

India expressed solidarity with the people and government of Saudi Arabia in defending the country’s sovereignty and hoped that peace and normalcy would return to the region soon.

The missile reportedly struck the airport complex housing domestic terminals 3 and 4.

According to Saudi authorities, the victims included four Saudi nationals, two Bangladeshis and one person each from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Syria and Sudan. Some of the injured were reported to be in critical condition.

The strike was the third attack on the airport within a week and the deadliest in Saudi Arabia in more than a decade.

A Saudi-led coalition blamed Iran-backed Houthi rebels in neighbouring Yemen for the attack. The Houthis have intensified strikes on Saudi airports, oil facilities and tankers since a truce in their conflict with Yemen’s Saudi-backed government collapsed in July.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said Washington was considering joining Saudi Arabia’s military campaign against the Houthis following the latest attack.
