New Delhi: India has strongly condemned the continued attacks on civilian and energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, including strikes on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and Saudi Aramco’s Shaybah oil field on October 21, expressing hope that peace and normalcy would return to the region at the earliest.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), one Indian national was killed and two others were injured in the attack on Dammam airport, while another Indian citizen was injured in the attack on the Shaybah oil field.
The MEA expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and wished for the speedy recovery of those injured. It said the Indian Embassy in Riyadh was in contact with Saudi authorities and would provide all possible assistance.
“We also reiterate that the attacks on civilian and critical infrastructure are completely unacceptable and must cease immediately. We stand in solidarity with the people and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in safeguarding its sovereignty,” the ministry stated.
The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia also confirmed the death of an Indian national and injuries to two others in the Dammam airport attack. In a post on X, it said it was ascertaining further details and contacting the affected families.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) reported that two people, including one Indian resident and one Saudi citizen, were killed in the attack. Eight people were injured, including two Indians, two Yemenis, two Bangladeshis, one Nepalese national and one Saudi citizen. Their injuries ranged from minor to critical, and they were receiving medical care at several hospitals.
The GACA said it was coordinating with relevant authorities to assess the damage, verify facility safety and take necessary measures to protect passengers and personnel.
