New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to travel to the United States in December to attend the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Florida, where he is also likely to hold a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump, according to reports.
The summit is scheduled for Dec. 14-15 at Trump National Doral Miami in Doral, Florida. The Indian government has not yet formally announced Modi’s visit.
A possible Quad leaders’ meeting involving India, the US, Japan and Australia is also being explored on the sidelines of the G20 summit. Discussions are expected to cover cooperation in areas including technology, critical minerals and disaster relief.
The possible Modi-Trump meeting comes amid continued engagement between New Delhi and Washington on trade, defense, technology, critical minerals and energy.
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor has previously said Modi would be among Trump’s priority leaders during the summit and hinted that their engagement could extend beyond the formal G20 proceedings.
Trade remains a key part of the bilateral agenda, with negotiations between India and the US continuing.
Following the G20 summit, Modi is also likely to travel to Canada, where he could meet Prime Minister Mark Carney, according to diplomatic reports. The two leaders have already agreed to work toward a mutually convenient date for Modi’s visit to Canada in 2026.
India and Canada are also negotiating a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, with both sides aiming to conclude the talks by the end of 2026.
